I have 81,200 words archived on FFN all together. I have two more chapters and an epilogue to write. Then I have to go back, edit, and add a few things, include the somewhat wordy meanings of the chapter titles. I'm going to double my word count, watch.

When writing a non-human society, you can really go all out on what can be done. You don’t have to limit yourself to two genders, unless it’s a part of canon. You don’t need to follow the same biological constraints as human societies will, or find ways around them. As previously stated, the default pronoun in a matriarchy is likely to be ‘she’. If your matriarchy is on the near end of the scale of gender equality vs inequality, then you can perhaps get away ‘they’, ‘et’, ‘ze’, ‘your own pronoun here’ or ‘he or she’.
